Meet the New Boss...where to begin? I had to re-watch it because I was so impressed with it. When season six ended Cas had just claimed to be God and I was in shock. I re-watched that episode at least three times trying to figure out where Cas finally lost it. So when season 7 opened right it left off I couldn't wait to see the way Cas acted toward them. He was definately different as the episode started, I never thought I would see Cas use the tone of voice he used now. I was immediately concerned for what lies ahead for Sam, Dean, and Bobby. Especially with Sam losing it more and more. I still can't get over Cas's change in attitude. It's definately true that power can change a person either for better or worse, and for Cas, it was for the worse.
I was really glad that the director kept some humor in the show though, the beginning alone was really dark and slightly depressing so when the scene switched to Dean trying to fix the impala it kind of brought me back to season's 1 and 2 when they hunted simple supernatural things like windegos and the hook man (He may have been in season 3 i think). The relationship between Bobby and Dean also made the episode better. It reminded me of the reason I started watching in the first place, they're a family and they'd do anything to protect their family be it stopping the apocalypse or just fighting small supernatural things.
My favorite scenes in the episode however have to be Sam's hallucinations. I feel bad for Sam but at the same time I think that this makes him 10 times stronger. The conflict that he has to go through with all of these problems he's had, being half demon, being Lucifer's vessel, going to the pit, coming back without a soul, and finally breaking through the wall that separated him from losing his mind by getting his soul back and he still manages to be somewhat sane. I never thought he would make it back once he jumped into the pit with Lucifer. I thought if he did come back he would come back as Lucifer. I'm glad to see that Sam is stronger than the devil himself.
and Crowley, where to begin with him. I wanted to be mad at him and think he was the scum of the Earth and I tried I did, but I can't. I don't know why but Crowley is a character that is almost impossible to be mad at. He looks out for #1, himself and plays both sides when he needs to to stay alive. The funniest line in the show actually came from him I thought when he said, "What do you think he's going to do when he finds out we've been conspiring? You do want to conspire don't you?" It's typical Crowley and I thought it was hilarious.
One thing I definately did NOT see coming was Cas giving up his power even when Dean begged him to. I felt like Cas had worked so hard for this power that he was never going to give it up. I was kind of interested to see where he went with it. And why would Death even help the boys? I'm hoping to see more of Death in the coming episodes to see what his part is in the whole cosmos. And finally when the Leviathan took over Cas after he gave up his power I felt sadness for Cas and the look of hurt on Dean's face when he lost Cas finally was something that just tore me up.
so, that's my thoughts on season 7 episode 1! I'm sure I left out a few things BUT that's a reason for you to post and share you're thoughts as well! :)
Hey Samantha. Nice stuff. You could add reviews of some more serials to gain readers (probably start posting about those also to start with). You could also look at using another font; something which is more legible so that readers don't have to stress too much to read.
ReplyDeleteBut a nice and elaborate review posted. Simple and frank.
Hey vishal thanks so much! Yea I realized after looking at the font that i need a more legible one so I definately will do that. And I was thinking about doing another series maybe the Secret Circle, I just started that one. Thanks for checking it out! :)
ReplyDeleteHey, I'm a big Supernatural fan as well, so I'm excited to read your posts. I do agree with Vishal, I just found it a bit hard on my eyes to read with the white on black. Could just be me though. But great post, looking forward to the rest! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks! :) Yea I just made the blog today so naturally there will be a lot of mind changing and re-arranging but I'm glad you liked it! :)
